Motivational Speaker Ed Sykes Selected to American Cancer Society Leadership Council

 Virginia Beach, VA, October 27, 2008—Motivational speaker and success coach Ed Sykes of The Sykes Group was selected to participate as a council member on the Hampton Roads American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Leadership Council in Virginia Beach, VA.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service. The American Cancer Society’s Leadership Council meets on a quarterly basis to discuss, provide leadership, support, and make suggestions for the direction that the American Cancer Society should take to achieve its mission.

American Cancer Society’s next national Leadership Council meeting will be on November 7-8^th at the Atlanta Westin Hotel.  The meeting will include discussions regarding American Cancer Society’s best practices, areas of improvement, and the overall direction ACS needs to take for the future.  “I feel honored to be asked to participant in the ACS Leadership Council,” said Ed Sykes.  “The opportunity to have input in making a true difference for individuals and families in our communities is something I take very seriously.”

Ed Sykes has been volunteering for the American Cancer Society for over three years:  first starting out as a motivational speaker for the first African American Men’s Health Forum (AAMHF), then as Co-Chairperson for the 2008 and upcoming AAMHF.
